Cisco- SOLD December 2021
Barn Name: Cisco
Year Foaled/Age: 2004, 17 years old
Color: Sorrel
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: None
Height: 14.1 hands
Rider Level: Advanced Beginner or Above
Discipline: Trails
Description: I bought Cisco at the October Kalona horse sale. He loaded and hauled really well coming home from the sale but took a little bit of effort to get him to back off when we got home. He was pretty convinced we should just turn around and walk off. He was quite thin when he came in and has been working on gaining some weight. He has good ground manners and will stand tied or in the cross ties all day. He is super easy to saddle and bridle. For the most part he stands quietly for you to mount but may need an occasional reminder not to take a step or 2. He has a great neck rein and seems to have a little idea about leg pressure. He can walk, trot, canter nicely in the arena though his canter is a little speedy. His jog is fabulous which is good because he prefers to jog on the trails. He is never nasty and doesn't have a mean bone in his body but prefers to jog most of the time. I have had students as young as 10 ride him with no issues but she is a pretty solid little rider. I would not put a complete beginner on him just because of his motor. He is not spooky and hasn't minded the dogs at all.
When he came in his teeth were horrible. We think that was the primary reason for his low weight. When I was able to talk to the previous owners they said that their horses chased him quite a bit and he was very low in the pecking order and they didn't think he was getting enough feed. He can be a little tricky to catch at times but other than that I haven't had any issues whatsoever with him on the ground.
The previous owners hauled him quite a bit to trail ride and said he is fabulous and crosses water well. She did mention that he gets a 'prancy' at times which we have found to be true although I see it as more of a jog than a prance.
Cisco does have a grade 3 (out of 6) heart murmur. He probably shouldn't be doing anything extremely strenuous such as games or super long trail rides but he is healthy enough to be used. He has a current coggins from the sale, got his teeth floated and got his hooves trimmed when he got here. He did have a full set of shoes when I got him and previous owner said they had hauled him to Eminence, MO and it is quite rocky there and that is why they shod him. I pulled the shoes and we have had absolutely no issues whatsoever. Pictures are from when he first arrived. I will post more up to date photos on FB when I have a chance.

Dublin- SOLD October 2021
Barn Name: Dublin
Year Foaled/Age: 2004, 17 years old
Color: Sorrel
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Gaited cross
Registration Association & Number: Grade
Height: 15.1 hands
Rider Level: Unsure
Discipline: Trails
Description: Dublin is a super sweet 17 yr old gaited gelding. He is approximately 15 hands. I bought Dublin at the August Kalona sale. We have had all his cares brought up to date including shots, dental, farrier and deworming. He is currently working on gaining weight.
Dublin is very broke and steers really well off your legs. He has a fabulous canter. He has an honest trot and canter as well as his gait. We have ridden him bareback a few times. He did crow hop the first time we asked him to canter but hasn't had any issues since. We are guessing that he had a family that cared for him before ending up at the auction because his teeth had been done within the last year and his hooves were actually in pretty good shape. He has pretty good ground manners but needs an occasional reminder. He loaded well coming home from the sale and stands tied nicely. He stood well for the vet and stood well for the farrier after a few reminders.
I am happy for Dublin to stay with us as long as he needs but I would like to pull a few more from a sale at the beginning of October. I can only do this if a few that I currently have find homes. Please feel free to search Facebook for #kyhlwooddublin for more pictures and videos. Dublin's price is negotiable to the right home. His price will go up with more training and time put into him.

Classic Sunny Image- SOLD October 2021
Barn Name: Casper
Year Foaled/Age: 2002, 19 years old
Color: Palomino
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: AQHA
Height: 15.3 hands
Rider Level: Advanced beginner on trails, intermediate or above in the arena
Discipline: LOVES Trails
Description: Casper is a really fun gelding on the trails but in the arena often has a bit of an opinion about how hard he should be working. He has good ground manners and sill stand all day for the kids to fuss over him. He does well straight tied and in the cross ties. He stood great for the farrier and vet. It took him a bit to load when I picked him up but after a few minutes he hopped in and rode quietly and unloaded nicely. I did have another horse on the trailer and that may have helped a bit. We have gotten all of Casper's cares up to date including dental, shots, farrier and sheath. He is super easy to catch and will put his head down for the shorter kids to be able to catch him.
Casper is GREAT on the trails. He is happy to lead or follow. He goes over obstacles and through tall grass without any issues. We don't currently have any water to cross since it was so dry this summer. I have had kids of all ages on him but he does have a faster walk so I would say he isn't for a complete beginner. I haven't ridden him out alone but I am guessing he would be ok with someone that could be firm with him if he didn't want to go. I typically ride him in split reins so I can use them to swat his rear when his breaks get stuck. He rides well in a halter and lead rope but typically we ride him in a snaffle. He has a great walk, trot, canter but has crow hopped a few times in the canter in the arena. He is happy to canter on the trails without any issues.
Casper was a bit sore after we had him trimmed (hadn't been done in over a year). He isn't off but would benefit from some front shoes if you are planning to ride anywhere rocky or really hard. Casper is a really nice gelding and is easy to have around. However my lesson horses must be able to be used in the arena as well and he doesn't want to do that. I will continue using him until the right buyer comes along.

Mia Fancy Investment- SOLD September 2021
Barn Name: Snugs
Year Foaled/Age: 2004, 17 years old
Color: Chestnut
Sex: Mare
Breed: Paint Horse
Registration Association & Number: APHA
Height: 15.3 hands
Rider Level: Intermediate or above
Discipline: Dressage, Jumpers. Hunters, Trails
Description: Snugs is a great mare. She just has a little more motor than I need for my lesson program. She has been used on trails and hauled all over the state of Iowa. She has also been shown in 4H. Snugs is a more forward moving or English moving horse. She has a great 1 hand neck rein and a great lope. She has a big floaty trot. Snugs is soft sided and needs a rider that knows how to control their legs. She is fabulous on trails. She is not spooky and is used to the dogs racing in and out of the prairie and timber. Snugs rides out alone or with a group. She is happy to ride at the front or back of the group.
She had great ground manners. She is easy to catch, stands tied all day. She both cross ties and straight ties. She is easy to saddle and bridle. Snugs loads and unloads well. She doesn't paw or dance around in the trailer. She stands great for the farrier and the vet. She is up to date on all cares. She is currently barefoot but I would put shoes on her if you are consistently riding somewhere with a lot of rock or gravel.
I am happy for Snugs to stay as long as she needs to find the right home. I have an adult student that has been leasing her for trail riding and will continue to do so until we find the right home.

Pepper- SOLD September 2021
Barn Name: Pepper
Year Foaled/Age: 2003, 18 years old
Color: Bay
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: Grade
Height: 15.3 hands
Rider Level: Advanced Beginner or above
Discipline: Trails
Description: Pepper is an ex-barrel horse. We have used him mostly for trail riding. He has a great walk, trot, canter in the arena alone but if there are other horses in the arena he has more of a motor. Pepper has a great 1 hand neck rein. He has good ground manners, he will stand tied all day but might dance around the pole a little if you walk away from him. He cross ties as well as straight ties. He is super easy to catch, even when you are trying to catch someone else. He is not spooky on the trails and is used to the dogs racing in and out of the prairie grass and timber. He will ride at the front, middle and back of the group. I have used him for my advanced beginner students and they got along with him well. He does get a little buddy sour with those that live in the same pen as him. I have not ridden him out alone but I think he would be fine with a rider with a little firmer hand. He hasn't had any big behavioral issues either on the ground or under saddle. His only vice is that he can be a bit buddy sour as stated above. He stands well for the farrier and the vet. He is up to date on all cares. Pepper does have arthritis in his knees but it doesn't seem to phase him too much. Previous owner gave him equiox on a daily basis but we have only given it when we are riding him. When he came in he had very thin soles and so has shoes and pads on currently. The plan is to pull the pads and then eventually the shoes as he has more healthy hoof grow in.
Pepper would prefer a home where he would spend the majority of time on the trails. He is good in the arena but seems much happier on the trails.

Spartan- SOLD September 2021
Barn Name: Spartan
Year Foaled/Age: 2007, 14 years old
Color: Bay
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Pony
Registration Association & Number: Grade
Height: 13.1 hands
Rider Level: Advanced
Discipline: English, Driving or Games
Description: Spartan is a very sweet gelding but is a bit shy. Spartan's previous family rode him when they bought him 6 years ago and then not much after they brought him home. He has great ground manners. He is not pushy and wants to please. He stands tied and cross tied. He stood well for the farrier but was a little nervous. He struggled a bit standing for shots but wasn't dangerous in the slightest. He did kick once when I cleaned his sheath.
He lunges well and we have been working on ground driving. We have been doing some desensitizing with him but it would be best if his new home continues with this. He can be a little nervous under saddle but settles in well he has a great walk & trot. We have not cantered him under saddle yet. I have had intermediate and advanced riders ride him under supervision. However, I think he would do best in a home with an experienced person as he is unsure and needs guidance. He has bucked a few times on the lunge line but not with anyone on his back.
He is a very sweet gelding and wants to please bit is a bit nervous and scared. If you move too quickly he flinches as though he thinks you are going to hit him. I know the family that I got him from and I don't think they ever mishandled him but it is quite possible that he was mishandled before they bought him. Considering they didn't do much with him I don't think he has had much chance to get over his people issues recently. I am happy to keep Spartan and continue his training while here but he doesn't seem to do well with the excess of commotion around here. I feel he would do better somewhere quieter.
Spartan does have a fairly thick coat for this time of year and I had blood pulled to be tested for cushings disease. However we didn't get the blood in on time and the vet hasn't been out to retest him. This is the main reason his price is low. I think he has a ton of potential and is a super fun little gelding. If he doesn't sell I will have the vet test him next time she is out. His price is slightly negotiable to the right home.

Cosmo- SOLD August 2021
Barn Name: Cosmo or Mo
Year Foaled/Age: 2017, 4 years old
Color: Bay
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: none
Height: 14 hands
Rider Level: Intermediate or Above
Discipline: Trails, Jumping!!
Description: Cosmo is a super sweet gelding that I picked up from the loose pen at the Kalona sale. When I got him he hadn't been handled much, if at all. He has come a long way in the 5 months he has been at Kyhlwood. He has fabulous ground manners. He is easy to catch and will stand tied all day. He stands quietly for grooming but may move a little when saddled. He had a handful of rides in May including a few on the trails. Unfortunately he got put on the back burner when client horses came in and pretty much just hung out for most of June and half of July. We got back to riding in the last few weeks and he hasn't forgotten anything. He walks, trots and canters with no buck or silly business. Direct reins and has good breaks. He does get a little jumpy when any horses are trotting or cantering straight at him.
Cosmo does great on trails. He is not spooky in the slightest but would prefer to bring up the rear. He doesn't like horses behind him but doesn't mind the dogs in the slightest. We have never taken him off property but he loaded fine when I brought him home from the sale.
Health Notes: Cosmo is up to date on all cares. He has been off a few times since he's been with me but I believe it was due to thrush. He will be one that needs to stay on a consistent farrier schedule. He is a bit club footed in the front but with proper farrier care should be able to have a career as a riding horse.

Hazel- SOLD August 2021
Barn Name: Hazel
Year Foaled/Age: 2001, 20 years old
Color: Dark Buckskin
Sex: Mare
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: none
Height: 14.3 hands
Rider Level: Advanced Beginner
Discipline: Trails
Description: I pulled Hazel from the loose pen at a sale in the beginning of March. She has turned out to be quite the find. She has packed on the pounds and has since been hitting the trails.
Hazel has great ground manners. She is easy to have around. She stands well for the farrier and vet. She stands well to be groomed and saddled. She is pretty easy to bridle but is happier with the bitless bridle. She stands nicely for you to mount from a mounting block or from the ground. She has a great ground covering walk and prefers to move out on the trails. She isn't one to dilly dally and likes to be going somewhere. She happily crosses water and bridges. She likes to lead but will follow if asked. Hazel sometimes tries to go her own way and needs some redirection which is why I have put her level of rider at advanced beginner. Hazel is happy to walk and trot, she will canter but would prefer not to as its a lot of work. Hazel does not neck rein but direct reins nicely in the bitless bridle. She gaps her mouth a little with a bit. She has better brakes in the bitless bridle as well and I would be happy to send it along with her to her new home since she likes it.
I hauled Hazel to Brushy Creek the first Sunday in June. She was FABULOUS! She hauled well, stood perfectly at the trailer and stood quietly for me to mount. She would have preferred to be closer to the front of the group but rode contently at the back. The first group of horses we passed she was a little concerned that we had lost someone but got used to it quite quickly. She crossed the river with no issues. She never spooked even when the rest of our group spooked and took off across a field, Hazel just stood and watched them go. I was extremely pleased with her for our first off property trail ride!
Hazel is easy to load and unload but she is easier to turn around to unload than to back off. She has gotten along with anyone I have turned her out with. She goes out on a large pasture every night with 15 other horses. She is up to date on all cares including dental, shots, deworming and farrier. She has a current coggins from the sale in March.
Health Notes: Hazel is healthy and sound as far as we know. She does have a large scar on her left knee that was swollen when I got her. With time off and bringing her back into work slowly we have not had any soundness issues what so ever.

Angel- SOLD July 2021
Barn Name: Angel
Year Foaled/Age: 1997, 24 years old
Color: Bay
Sex: Mare
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: none
Height: 14.3 hands
Rider Level: Beginner
Discipline: Trails, 4-H
Description: Angel came to Kyhlwood Training this spring. Her owner had passed away and she was looking for a new home. No one believes me when I tell them how old Angel is. Physically she doesn't look 24 and she sure as heck doesn't act like it. She is super easy going for any level of rider. The only time you may get a little sass is if you try to ride out alone.
She has spent the last few months teaching lessons and carting kids around trails. As much as we adore her she doesn't love arena lessons and I would prefer to find her a home that primarily trail rides. She is not spooky in the slightest. She doesn't mind when the dogs tag along and are racing around her legs. She has never spooked with us the whole time we've had her. Even when the other horses are bothered by something she isn't phased. We have had deer, pheasant, turkeys and racoons cross our path without her taking a second look. We have hauled her to Brushy State Creek State Park three times and she was excellent every time. She did have a little more of a motor and wanted to lead on this latest trip.
Angel is good in turnout with both mares and geldings. She is not marish towards anyone. She has fantastic ground manners and stands quietly to be groomed and tacked up. She will stand tied all day without pawing or dancing. She is great for the vet and farrier. She is up to date on all cares including dental. She stands nicely for you to mount and stands until she is asked to walk off. She has 3 nice gaits though her trot is on the bouncy side. She will willingly trot and canter but would prefer to stay at a walk if you let her. She needs someone that will encourage her to keep going when moving at a faster gait. Angel loads and unloads well. She is easy to haul and stands quietly tied to the trailer. Occasionally she will walk away when you go to catch her. Usually it is after she has had to do lessons in the arena for several days in a row.
Angel is welcome to stay as long as it takes to find her the right home. She is an extremely sweet mare and we enjoy having her around. I just think that she would prefer to be in a home that spends most of their time on the trails.
Health Notes: Angel is healthy and up to date on all cares. When she first came she struggled a little going down steep hills. I had her hocks x-rayed and she had some very slight arthritis in one joint. I went ahead and had that joint injected and she has had an easier time on the hills since then. She does benefit from an equiox when going on a long trail. Angel does have a tight tendon on her back right. It isn't causing any pain but causes her to step harder with that foot.

Kona- SOLD July 2021
Barn Name: Kona
Year Foaled/Age: 2016, 5 years old
Color: Chestnut
Sex: Mare
Breed: Over size POA
Registration Association & Number: none
Height: 14.3 hands
Rider Level: Advanced Beginner on Trails, Intermediate in the Arena
Discipline: Trails, 4-H
Description: I pulled Kona from the loose pen at a sale in the beginning of March with Hazel. Kona had a large flesh wound on her right hind pastern. Once we got that healed we started her under saddle. She was pretty easy to start and although we had a few minor hiccups I wonder if she was previously worked with. Once she learned to steer we hit the trails! Her fifth ride with us was actually a 3 hour trail ride at Brushy Creek State Park. She handled everything like a champ. We had taken 4 students with us and Kona lead the entire group. At one point she ponied an older mare with a student for about 30 minutes because the horse I was riding was being a pill. She crossed water, went under bridges, loaded, unloaded, stood tied to the trailer and hauled like she had done it a million times before. The second time we took her to Brushy Creek she got to take a student! She was just as fabulous as the first time! Crossed the deeper water with no issues even when the horse next to her decided to lay down. She did spook once; when the horses in front of her took off because of something in the bushes she went with them. She was very easy to stop and wasn't phased in the slightest the 2nd time going by the same spot.
Kona stands quietly to be groomed and tacked up. She stands nicely to be mounted. She has a great walk and trot. Her trot is super cute and she would be a really cute little hunter mare. Her canter is on the speedy side but she has great brakes. She will happily work in the arena but really excels on the trails. She is not spooky in the slightest, even with the dogs racing in and out of the timber she hasn't done anything more than startle in place other than at Brushy when she followed those in front of her that had spooked. She has completed every obstacle we have asked of her including crossing our sunken road, crossing our bridge, crossing the teeter-totter, going through our wind chimes, etc. She is an absolute rock star on the trails.
Kona has been turned out with mares and geldings without any issues. She is an easy keeper and does well on pasture. She stands well for the vet and farrier. She is currently barefoot and we haven't had any need for shoes. She is a really easy little mare to have around and I would love to keep her but I can't pull anymore from the loose pen until some of my current residents find new homes.
Health Notes: Kona is healthy and sound as far as we know. She does have a large scar on her right hind pastern that was an open proud flesh wound when I got her. She spent the better part of a month in a stall getting the proud flesh under control. After getting the wound under control we haven't had any issues with soundness. Even when in hard work the scar does not bother her in the slightest.

Matilda- SOLD July 2021
Barn Name: Matilda or Tilda
Year Foaled/Age: 2009, 12 years old
Color: Bay
Sex: Mare
Breed: Paint Pony
Registration Association & Number: none
Height: 13.2 hands
Rider Level: Advanced Beginner
Discipline: Trails, 4-H
Description: I bought Matilda in 2015 and used her in lessons for 2 years. I then sold her to a client's family and they mostly used her for riding around home including fields and waterways. Her owner also used her for 4-H events from western to games. Her owner is moving away to go to college and unfortunately Matilda can't go with. She brought her back to me and I bought her back. I have been using her for lessons for the last few months and she has reminded me of why I offer her to her family in the first place.
Matilda is good in the arena but FABULOUS on trails. She has gotten back to her old tricks of trying to come to the middle or go to the gate during lessons. Her owner didn't have these issues but also didn't ride her regularly in an arena. She will walk, trot and canter without any fuss. She does have a bit of a motor and probably wouldn't work for a timid child. She knows her leads as long as the rider knows how to ask for a specific lead. Matilda is an absolute ROCK STAR on the trails. She excels on the trails and is much happier there than in the arena.
Matilda with go under, over or through anything on the trails. She is not spooky and if she startles she does so with her feet planted. She is used to the dogs racing in and out of the grass and timber. She is happy to lead or follow. She crosses the bridges, teeter-totter, balance beam and water without hesitation. She will hop up our tunnel without a second thought. She will lead or follow but prefers not to get left behind. She will ride away from the group if you are confident enough to make her but will fuss and argue a bit. I would really prefer to find Matilda a home that spends the majority of their time on the trails.
Health Notes: Matilda is healthy and sound as far as I know. In the time I've known her she has done better with front shoes if she is being ridden hard.

Edna- SOLD July 2021
Barn Name: Edna
Year Foaled/Age: 1993, 28 years old
Color: Sorrel & White
Sex: Mare
Breed: Paint
Registration Association & Number: none
Height: 15 hands
Rider Level: Advanced Beginner on Trails
Discipline: Trails
Description: Edna has been with us since the middle of April. She came in fairly poor condition. She has gotten all cares (dental, farrier, vaccinations & dewormer) up to date and has gained over 120 pounds. She loads, hauls and unloads well. She stands tied quietly both straight tied and in the cross ties. She stands well for the farrier and the vet.
Edna stands quietly to be mounted. She will happily walk out on the trails and has a lovely trot. She would prefer not to ever have to canter under saddle, it is far too much work. Her steering was a little rusty but she does direct rein. She does not neck rein. Edna would be very happy to follow the tail in front of her down the trail all day. She startled once at the dogs running up behind her but got used to it pretty quickly. We have kept our trails rather short since she is just getting back into shape. She has also been used for therapeutic lessons.
Edna has phenomenal ground manners. She adores the kids and would stand for them to fuss over her all day. I would love to find her a home where she has kids to dote on.
Health Notes: Edna came to us extremely thin. She had her teeth floated and started gaining weight pretty easily. She had gained well over 100 pounds but I would still like to see her top line fill in a bit more. We haven't had any soundness issues with her even though her hooves were in pretty poor condition. She has been trimmed regularly since coming but will need continued regular trims to get her hooves into top shape.

Goose- SOLD July 2021
Barn Name: Goose or Goober
Year Foaled/Age: 2007, 14 years old
Color: Blue Roan
Sex: Gelding
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: None
Height: 15.1 hands
Rider Level: Confident beginner
Discipline: Trails, Ranch Pleasure, Ranch work
Description: Goose is an absolute gem. If I was in the market for another trail horse I would be keeping him for my students. However I need a horse that is a little more versatile in the arena. Goose has great ground manners and is super easy to get along with. Loads, hauls and unloads well. Every once in a while he will walk away when you go to catch him but after about 30 seconds he always gives in and lets you put his halter on.
Goose stands well in the cross ties and straight tied. He stands well for the farrier as well as for being groomed and tacked up. He is very polite about bridling. Goose stands at the mounting block quietly. He has a great one hand neck rein and prefers that to direct reins. He has a nice trot and canter and goes into both willingly. He has good brakes and stands quietly when asked.
Goose excels on the trails. He likes to be in the front but will also ride in the back. He walks out so wouldn't be a great trail buddy for a plodder as he couldn't care less if he leaves the other horses behind. He is not spooky and the few times something has caught his attention he plants his feet. He will walk, trot and canter out on the trails without any funny business. Occasionally Goose will pull towards home a bit but nothing severe. We have hauled him to Brushy Creek twice with 2 different students. He was exceptional for both. He is fantastic to load and haul. He unloads quietly and stood next to the trailer with no fussing. Didn't hesitate once when asked to go in the river and wasn't phased when one of his trail mates decided to lay down in it. Even when the first half of the trail spooked and took off he stood and watched them.
I was told that his previous owners used him on cattle but I have not had him around any cows so can't speak to how he does. I was told he also has a background in roping but I am not sure if that was pasture roping/ranch work or competition roping. I would guess it was ranch work. Please see the screen shots of our ride notes below to get to know Goose a little better. I am happy to provide more if someone wants to see them. I really like this gelding and he is welcome to stay as long as it takes to find him the right home. He is currently 1/2 leased by an adult student but she is aware that he is for sale. Goose loves the trails and is absolutely fabulous on the trails. He wouldn't be listed at all if he enjoyed the arena more.
Health Notes: Goose is healthy and sound. When he first came he struggled a bit with his left lead and was a little grouchy under saddle. We had his adjusted and his right shoulder was out by over 3 inches. Likely due to an ill fitting saddle at some point. After the adjustment we have had no issues with the lead or grouchiness.

LUVMEAGOODCOWBOY
Barn Name: Poppy/Lover
Year Foaled/Age: 2012, 9 years old
Color: Bay
Sex: Mare
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: AQHA 5458777
Height: 15.2
Rider Level: Intermediate
Discipline: Ranch Horse, Ranch Horse Shows, Trails
Description: Poppy is a very well built, thick, correct mare. She has impeccable ground manners. She meets you at the gate, ties, loads, unloads, stands for the farrier and the vet. Poppy's current owner purchased her to be used as a trail horse and for her beginner grandkids to take lessons on. While she absolutely adores Poppy, it is clear that Poppy would prefer to have more of a job. Poppy has a great handle on her. Soft mouth, easy neck rein, soft and responsive to your legs. Knows her leads, can pivot and side pass. She does have a bit of a motor but nothing extreme. She is easy to push out and comes back quietly. She is currently ridden in a snaffle.
Poppy is fantastic on trails. If you want a horse to work all week and then trail ride on the weekends this is your girl. She is not spooky and if something happens she startles in place without moving her feet. She will walk out a bit at the beginning of the trail but settles in after a few minutes and is a nice relaxing ride. Poppy did best when hauled to my place where I have a lot of CRP and timber. At the barn where she boards they have open fields and she was a bit concerned about watching where everyone in the pastures were and was a little jumpy without a trail buddy. Poppy does need a rider with a bit of confidence as she can be a bit hesitant when she comes across new things. With a confident rider guiding her she will go through anything. If she is uncertain of anything she will also follow a trail buddy with ease. She crosses water and has gone over/under/through anything I've pointed her at.
Poppy would also be an ideal ranch horse (either show or working). She has a soft jog but covers some ground. great rocking horse lope that is super easy to sit. She has the potential to be a rope horse as well but we have never swung a rope off of her. I have only ridden Poppy three times for her owner. Once to help them decide if she needed more of a job than they could provide and twice to get videos. She was a joy to ride each time. Honestly if I needed another personal horse she wouldn't currently be listed.
The right home and match for Poppy is the most important thing to her current owners. Additional pictures and videos are available. Don't miss out on this amazing girl, she won't be on the market long I am sure!
Health Notes: None. Poppy is sound in every way and does not have any health issues.

Sex: Gelding
Breed: Quarter Horse
Registration Association & Number: None
Height: 16 hands
Rider Level: Intermediate

Description: TJ is a quiet, easy going gelding. He has been owned by the same family since he was 4 months old. His current owner is not longer able to ride him as he is too big for her as she's gotten older. Before he came to me he had be standing for several years. When he got here he rode off like he had done it the day before; no funny business what so ever. TJ is all business and is not a super snuggly gelding. He is polite and has good manners. He will stand tied or in the cross ties and stand well for the farrier. He stands nicely to be groomed though he can be a little lazy about picking up his feet.
He is easy to saddle and bridle. He stands nicely to be mounted though once you are in the saddle he may walk off. TJ direct reins, I believe that he may have neck reined in the past but it will take some refreshing. He is a willing guy; he will walk and trot on cue but I have not cantered him due to the frozen ground. He is good on trails and is happy to lead of follow. He is not spooky and so far for us has only startled in place. I have not taken him out on a solo trail ride yet.
TJ is an honest guy and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He needs a little guidance since he is a bit out of practice but he is a quiet, solid horse.
Health Notes: TJ has be diagnosed with navicular. It is well managed but he does require shoes to stay sound.
