I was contacted by someone that had bought a horse from me years ago, they had a 12 yr old mare that they needed to rehome. I headed to pick Edna up and when I arrived it became very apparent that not only was she not anywhere close to 12 but she was severely underweight. Of course being me I wasn’t going to leave her in that situation and loaded her up and brought her home. Turns out that I was right in guessing that Edna wasn’t anywhere close to 12 because she was actually closer to 25!! She spent a few months packing on the weight and then we got to find out what a fabulous trail horse she was. Edna loved the trails and loved attention but didn’t love working in the arena and spent most of her time taking her kids to stand in the middle. I decided lesson horse life wasn’t for her and found her a family that wanted something safe for their kids to learn to be around horses. She was thrilled to have her own buddy and people to fuss over her without having to do all the silly work in the arena.
