I got a phone call from my friend Cammi in November of 2022. “I’m at the Waukon sale and there is a horse here that needs you.” I asked if she was sound or broke to ride and Cammi didn’t know but kept insisting that she was super sweet. I had her take a photo of her teeth and a video trotting down the aisle. We decided that Cammi was going to go ahead and bid on her. When she came in the ring the owners said they thought she was broke at one time. Cammi outbid the only other bidder who was a kill buyer (someone that buys horses to be sent to slaughter). Ember is a super sweet mare that needed a little weight but wasn’t terrible. She got her teeth done and started gaining very easily. Once she had gained enough weight we started riding her and she is BROKE. At one point she must have been a western pleasure horse. She LOVES to trail ride and LOVES to jog. Loping is a bit more work but will go if she is asked. Ember is still with Kyhlwood Training and will be joining our lesson program this year.
