I pulled Hazel out of the loose pen at Kalona in March of 2021. She had a swollen knee, was under weight and had the word ‘broke’ spray painted on her side. Her knee injury had time to heal while she gained some weight. One of my boarders to;d me when Hazel arrived that she was one of the ugliest horses she had ever seen. I kept telling her there was a georgeous horse under there and by the end of the summer everyone else could see it too. Hazel was a dream trail horse but didn’t love working in the arena. After spending the summer with us hitting the trails and trying to get out of work during lessons Hazel got her very own kid to trail ride with. They still have her and she is a well loved member of their family.
